Who We Are

Teacher Conference- Fawnda Seward and fellow classmates and teachers

What We Did

We attended a local conference that recognizes and encourages teaching with hands on experiences.  The information given was teaching to the curriculum with a lasting approach.  I enjoyed the experience not only for the content that was learned, but also that we got to be actively engaged in the leaning/teaching experience.  It was a great experience to see the teacher perspective and the student involvement.

What We Learned

We learned various ways to engage our students in the content areas of Math and Science with hands-on-lessons.

Questions We Have

Can we make a difference in the lasting affects of our science and math lessons?

Connections to Teaching

We used making ice cream a lesson in Math on measuring and a science lesson on physical and chemical changes.

We learned probability by using yarn as a manipulative.  The students work in cooperative share groups to try and see how many different patterns can come about from tying the three ends together.  By doing the experiment a number of times you could extend the lesson into making graphs and plotting outcomes.
