Funded by a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation, Elementary Teachers Engaged in Authentic Math and Science (ETEAMS) is a targeted partnership between Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Independent School District.
STEM Activities in Partner Schools
Students and teachers participate in engaging science and math experiences led by university scientists and mathematicians.
Peer Mediated Instruction
Upper elementary and middle school students tutor younger elementary school students, increasing confidence and knowledge in mathematics.
Instructional Coaching
Experienced site-based coaches support preservice teachers, school collaborations, and instruction in middle levels classrooms.
Integrated Curriculum
Pre-service teachers collaborate with inservice teachers to offer high-quality, inquiry-based, hands-on integrated math and science curriculum.
Grades 4-8 Certification
Year long workshops help both pre-service and inservice teachers add a grades 4-8 math or science teaching certification.
Authentic Science Research
Teachers participate in original science research with university researchers. Participants not only learn about science, they become scientists as they work in the field and lab.
