Funded by a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation, Elementary Teachers Engaged in Authentic Math and Science (ETEAMS) is a targeted partnership between Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Independent School District.
Students and teachers participate in engaging science and math experiences led by university scientists and mathematicians.
Peer Mediated Instruction
Upper elementary and middle school students tutor younger elementary school students, increasing confidence and knowledge in mathematics.
Experienced site-based coaches support preservice teachers, school collaborations, and instruction in middle levels classrooms.
Pre-service teachers collaborate with inservice teachers to offer high-quality, inquiry-based, hands-on integrated math and science curriculum.
Year long workshops help both pre-service and inservice teachers add a grades 4-8 math or science teaching certification.
Teachers participate in original science research with university researchers. Participants not only learn about science, they become scientists as they work in the field and lab.
